Germany, Heer. An Infantry Officer’s M38 Overseas Cap Hold red wool Waffenfarbe backing(Heer Schiffchen fr Offiziere). Constructed of field grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold down side panels, secured in place at the front by machine stitching. A band of silver aluminum wire piping fully surrounds the crown, as well as the front of the panels, indicating Officer issue. Each side features a ventilation hole reinforced with a grey painted zink eyelet. The peak bears an insignia in the form of a field grey rayon backer overlaid
